Co-management of the Amarakaeri community reserve

Theme
Management
Goal
Strengthen the co-management of the Amarakaeri community reserve in south-east Peru and the implementation of forest conservation agreements in four communities in the reserve's buffer zone.
Activities
  1. Strengthening the management capacities of the representation of indigenous communities that manage the reserve in co-management with the government. We do this through the development of innovative management tools, with an emphasis on Life Plans and a strategy for financial sustainability.

  2. Implementation of forest conservation agreements (in collaboration with the National Forest Conservation Programme for Mitigation of Climate Change PNCBMCC). These agreements are a condition for direct funding for forest conservation compensation. Their implementation focuses on community monitoring.

  3. Integrating the value chain of banana produced in agroforestry systems, in order to make direct beneficiaries more aware of the value of the reserve in a concrete way.
